Dear participants, organizers and guests of the World Blitz Championship 2008!
Allow me to express warmest greetings to participants, guests, organizers and representatives of Mass Media on behalf of International Chess Federation and President council of FIDE on the occasion of World Blitz Chess Championship 2008 conducting!
It’s remarkable that so great chess tournament is conducted on the hospital Kazakh land for the first time. Almost all chess elite and 16 greatest grand-masters, which will argue for world chess crown in classical blitz, will visit Almaty in these days. 
I’m sure that this championship will be perfect impulse to develop chess as intellectual kind of sport in Kazakhstan.
I want to express my thanks to organizers of this tournament – Noncommercial Charitable Seimar Social Fund and Kazakhstan Chess federation. This event is unique for Kazakhstan and it will be impossible without their participation. 
I wish good health and sport victories to all participants of the Championship and let the greatest win!

Ministry of tourism and sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan welcomes you on IV World Chess Blitz Championship, which will take place in Kazakhstan for the first time and shows the best correlation with FIDE standards and sport choice.
Conducting of this championship is one of the most important events in Kazakhstan’s and the whole world sports life in this year. We hope that the championship will be one of the main stages of this ancient intellectual game developing.

Welcoming word of Kazakhstan's chess federation president Margulan Seisembaev

Dear participants and guests of the World Blitz Championship!
Kazakhstan Chess Federation thanks you for participation in this memorable event – World Chess Blitz Championship 2008.
Chess becomes more popular in Kazakhstan year after year. Increasing interest of Kazakhstan’s youth to this kind of sport is in support of it. And conducting of the World Blitz Chess championship is an important development stage of this intellectual sport. We have the unique chance to watch hard-edged struggle of titans, and our grandmaster Murtas Kazhgaleev is among them.
We blessed International Chess federation – FIDE for the given opportunity to conduct this championship in Kazakhstan.  Also we thank the panel of judges and appellate committee – Andjei Filipovich, Boris Spassky, Victor Korchnoi. Anatoliy Karpov, who according to great sport’s traditions decided to take part in the World Blitz Chess Championship.
We hope, this tournament will be memorable for all participants and spectators, will present a lot of creative achievements and become true history of sport!

 

 

 

 

Kazakhstan Chess federation
Kazakhstan Chess federation is free-will social sports organization, which was founded to develop and sell chess in Kazakhstan.

The main aims of the federation are:
• Development of chess culture and sport;
• Popularization chess among youth;
