Chess Federations of the former Soviet republics were left to their own resources after USSR’s disintegration in 1991. There were no common debugged system of tournaments’ conducting, sources of finance, children and youth chess were cornered. Not all chess federation of new independent states could solve these problems, because of the difficult economical and political situations. Also there were no chess enthusiasts, which could advance this sport.
Kazakhstan’s chess federation occupied a fitting place in former Soviet Union. Kazakh chess-players successfully participated in personal country championships, USSR’s spartakiads, international forums. Sisters Gulnara and Elvira Sakhatovs, Flura Khasanova, Bolat Asanov, Serikpay Temirbayev, Evgeniy Vladimirov, Mikhail Mukhin... These are the chess-players, which had good results and their names were famous to the whole chess fancies. There were great women chess school in Kazakhstan. Kazakh girls successfully competed and often won over representatives of the world famous Georgian school at the serious comand tournaments of USSR.
Great organizational and popularizational work was carried out. The good confirmation of it are USSR men (1969) and women (1980) championships’ final, pretenders match Tal-Polugaevskiy (1980), country semi-finals in Pavlodar and Aktobe, coman finals of Soviet Army. And this is not full list. Competitons were conducted with the support of outstanding public man E. Brown, A. Ufimcev, A. Noskov, A. Muslimova and others. Olzhas Suleimenov takes particular position in this list. Great modern poet, public man famous all over the world was the head of national Chess federations during long time. Thanks to his great prestige the republic received such outstanding chess-players as Salomon Flor, Vladas Mikenas, Mikhail Tal, Lev Polugaevskiy, Anatoliy Lutikov; soviet and international chess forums were carried out. 
Difficult tasks faced the new administration of Kazakhstan’s Chess federation: how to keep, not to lose and to increase everything, which was made by previous generations.
Answers on this difficult questions were given in 1992, when Kazakhstan’s men and women teams the first time in history took part in the World Chess Olympiad in Manila. Since that time Kazakhstan’s teams were regular participants of this important international team Games. Also there were great international tournaments in Astana (Kasparov, Kramnik, Morozevitch were participants), in Almaty, Karaganda, Uralsk, Shymkent, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Aktobe. Gali Saidenov, Mukhtar Abliazov, Ablay Mirzakhmetov, Bolat Asanov, Saken Seifullin, Margulan Seisembaev – these people were the leaders of the chess-movement in difficult times. But there are good results. Republic of Kazakhstan occupies 25 place in the world rating-list ahead such world chess grands as Argentina, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Lithuania, Latvia, Vietnam and others. There are a lot of international grand-masters and masters in Kazakhstan. The participant of future World Championship Murtaz Kazhgaleev is one of the 100 world greatest players. Youth chess is on the new development stage now. Young grand-master Anuar Ismagambetov became country champion in 2008. Good results at the Children’s world and Asian championships showed Gulmira Dauletova (Shymkent), Aibek Iskakov (Almaty), Zhansaya Abdumalik (Almaty) and Dinara Saduakasova (Astana). Among good trainers famous names are N. Peregudov and F. Khasanova (Almaty), G. Kim (Shymkent), O. Rinas and V. Medvedev (Karaganda), V. Min (Uralsk). Their learners have successful participations not only in youth tournaments, but in large international adults championships.
Kazakhstan’s chess-players, trainers, young players, their parents, fans hope, that the World championship will give new impulse to develop chess in our country. And the guests of Almaty – outstanding blitz masters will please their spectators with the examples of beautiful, straight-out game.

IV World Blitz Chess Championship was finished by unexpected victory of grand master from Cuba Leinier Dominguez Perez, who played with 15 great blitz-players in the world. Chess-player from Cuba won 8 games and didn’t lose no one, so he took 11,5 scores.
World Blitz Champion 2007 Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukrain) took 2nd place with 11 scores. Five times champion of Russia Peter Svidler became bronze medalist with 10 scores.
08.11.08 display of multi-board chess-play of honorable guest of the Championship, 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov with 15 chess fancies from Kazakhstan was held.  Prize-winner of VIII international Seimar Chess Tournament among children and youth Yaroslav Ryabov draw with legendary chess-player.
The opening ceremony of the IV WBCC was conducted on November, 7 at 7 PM. FIDE president Kirsan Ilumzhinov, even office’s chief, mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Esimov and Kazakhstan Chess federation president Margulan Seisembaev made welcoming speeches on the ceremony.
