IV World Blitz Chess Championship was finished by unexpected victory of grand master from Cuba Leinier Dominguez Perez, who played with 15 great blitz-players in the world. Chess-player from Cuba won 8 games and didn’t lose no one, so he took 11,5 scores.
World Blitz Champion 2007 Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukrain) took 2nd place with 11 scores. Five times champion of Russia Peter Svidler became bronze medalist with 10 scores.

The opening ceremony of the IV WBCC was conducted on November, 7 at 7 PM. FIDE president Kirsan Ilumzhinov, even office’s chief, mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Esimov and Kazakhstan Chess federation president Margulan Seisembaev made welcoming speeches on the ceremony.
It’s planning to issue stamp that will be dedicated to this great tournament by the initiative of World Blitz Chess Championship’s event office. Also the agreement to issue postmark and special cards has been reached.
President of International Chess Federation - FIDE, head of Kalmikia republic Kirsan Ilumzhinov will be the honorable guest of IV World Blitz Chess championship, which will take part in November 7-8 in Almaty.
Famous chess figure Andjei Filipovich (Poland) will visit Almaty as chief arbiter of the IV World Blitz Chess championship. Mr. Andjei had judged many international tournaments with first numbers in chess participation – Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand, Kamsky, Gelfand, Ivanchuk and many others.
It’s determined all 16 grand-masters, who will take part in IV World Blitz Chess Championship in Almaty, November 7-8. World Blitz champion of 2007, third number in current FIDE rating Vassiliy Ivanchuk and World Blitz champion of 2006, great Russian blitz-player Alexander Grischuk are among them. Also there are favorite sportsmen Alexander Morozevitch, Gata Kamsky, Tejmur Radjabov, Judith Polgar and others.
Anatoliy Karpov – 12th world champion (1975-1985), FIDE world champion (1993-1998). He won more than 100 international tournaments, he is three times USSR champion, repeated winner of the World chess Olympiads. Anatoliy Karpov will give display of multi-board chess-play at the IV World Blitz Chess Championship.
The greatest British chess player of 20th century, international Grandmaster, finalist of the 1993 PCA World Championship match, repeated national champion, silver medalist from the World Chess Olympiads, owner of the Order of British Empire, Nigel David Short will be commentator at the World Chess Blitz Championship.
10th World Champion, repeated winner of World Chess Olympiads, the legend of chess - Boris Spassky confirmed his participation in IV World Blitz Chess Championship. Mr. Spassky will take part in the Championship as the member of appellate committee.
Appellate committee of the World Chess Blitz Championship has the brilliant participant! One of its participants will be Victor Korchnoi – international grand-master, four-times USSR champion, six-times winner of World Chess Olympiads, pretender to be World champion, holder of chess “Oscar” in 1978, currently the oldest active grandmaster on the world tournament circuit.
The Chess federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Noncommercial Charitable Seimar Social Fund approved Pawn as the symbol of IV World Blitz Chess Championship, which will be conducted at November, 7-8, in Almaty.
World Blitz Championship will be conducted in Almaty, November, 7-8. The greatest 16 chess-players of the world and masters of chess will take part in the championship. Prize fund – 350 000 Swiss francs is granted by Kazakhstan’s Chess federation with the support of Noncommercial Charitable Seimar Social Fund and JSC “Alliance Bank”.
