Famous chess figure Andjei Filipovich (Poland) will visit Almaty as chief arbiter of the IV World Blitz Chess championship. Mr. Andjei had judged many international tournaments with first numbers in chess participation – Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand, Kamsky, Gelfand, Ivanchuk and many others.

Andjei Filipovich is famous chess player and experienced international arbiter. He had judged tens great chess tournaments. 
Mr. Filipovich was born in Warsaw in May, 13 1938. He began to play chess in early childhood, his father was his first teacher and coach. Andjei was the leading chess-player in Poland in 1960 – 1980. He won 18 individual tournaments and 35 team tournaments in Poland. He is repeated winner of different championships with team of his country “Legion”. Andjei Filipovich is the participant of 19 chess Olympiads since 1960, where he was the captain of Poland team and than its director. He played with Spassky, Keres, Smislov, Vasiukov, Ulman, Larssen, Gort… Filipovich is the member of Committee FIDE for a long time and the president of one of the European zones, where are Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Andjei Filipovich’s achievements as arbiter are very different.  But the most important in arbiter’s life and in chess history are World Championship 1998 in Lausanne, final Karpov – Anand 2000 in London, final Kasparov – Kramnik 2004 in Brissago, final Kramnik – Leko. Andjei Filipovich had judged important women tournaments, for example, challengers match in 1999, when Alisa Galliamova from Russia beat Ksi Dzun (China).
Famous international arbiter will be the head of panel of judges at the IV World Blitz Chess championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

IV World Blitz Chess Championship was finished by unexpected victory of grand master from Cuba Leinier Dominguez Perez, who played with 15 great blitz-players in the world. Chess-player from Cuba won 8 games and didn’t lose no one, so he took 11,5 scores.
World Blitz Champion 2007 Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukrain) took 2nd place with 11 scores. Five times champion of Russia Peter Svidler became bronze medalist with 10 scores.
08.11.08 display of multi-board chess-play of honorable guest of the Championship, 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov with 15 chess fancies from Kazakhstan was held.  Prize-winner of VIII international Seimar Chess Tournament among children and youth Yaroslav Ryabov draw with legendary chess-player.
The opening ceremony of the IV WBCC was conducted on November, 7 at 7 PM. FIDE president Kirsan Ilumzhinov, even office’s chief, mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Esimov and Kazakhstan Chess federation president Margulan Seisembaev made welcoming speeches on the ceremony.
