- Why do you like blitz chess?
- There are a lot of attractive sides in blitz. You can play the whole tournament in 3 hours, and this time will be not enough for one classical game of chess. Games of chess in blitz are more active and risky as usual. It is very interesting to watch out blitz. The main importance have intuition and reaction.
- How often do you play blitz? What is your successes?
- I play with pleasure, but there are little number of tournaments yet. I became the vice-champion at the Asian Indoor Games in Makao the last year.
- Your advices to the chess-amateurs, which want to play good and fast...
- My advice is simple – to play blitz! Experience and constant trainings are very important. Good debut repertory helps too.
- Who is the best blitz-player among the great chess-players by your opinion? The top 10?
- I can’t say unambiguously – different eras, different players. To say somethinf about Top 10 is easier, but I can only guess, how played blitz before the War. By chronology it may be so: P. Morphy, H.R. Capablanca, T. Petrosyan, D. Bronstein, M. Tal, R. Fisher, A. Karpov, G. Kasparov, V. Anand, V. Ivanchuk.
- What is your pretendent to win in this tournament?
- Ivanchuk – present World Blitz Champion. He plays blitz great! The most of his games are impeccable even from computer’s position. He plays ALL debuts and it’s impossible to plan preparation for it.
- How do you think, is it necessary to make tougher time control in tournaments? Can it become so, that it will be played only “active chess” or blitz? - Each time control must has its own championship and tournament. I like active chess and blitz very much, but it will be pity, if classical chess disappear.
- What are the perspectives of blitz development in Kazakhstan and in the world?
- I think, perspectives are good, it’s necessary to develop this kind of game.
- How do you think, could blitz become Olympic sport?
- I hope, blitz and active chess have such potential. Chiefly chess is needed to be in the Olympic sports list.
- Is it useful for young chess-players to play blitz?
- Yes, blitz developes rate of mind, it is useful for debut organization and technics. Everyone can play it, above all not to abuse.
- What is necessary for organization and effective conducting of blitz tournaments?
- Desire, sponsors... Enthusiasm! I want to thank Margulan Seisembaev, Saken Seifullin, Bolat Asanov – those people, who organize such grand event in Almaty!
