Vassiliy Ivanchuk (Ukraine)
– outstanding Ukrainian grand-master. Was born in 1969, March, 18 in Berezhani, Ukraine. His father taught him to play chess. In the childhood Ivanchuk amazed people by his phenomenon chess memory. He remembered several hundred of games of chess, that was published in chess editions named “Informator”. He is the winner of several big tournaments in Linares, Biel, Wijk aan Zee, Monaco and others. The winner of World Chess Olympiad 2004 consisting of Ukrainian team. Vice chess world champion in 2002. Permanent pretender on the world chess crown from 1991 till nowadays. World blitz champion 2007.
Ivanchuk it is not only chess, but also “other things, that I’m interested in. I like to read, to go to the theatre, to listen to good music.” He is fond of philosophy and serious literature.
Ivanchuk has the reputation for chess-player, that possessed by the game, even among his colleagues. He is ready to play, to analyze, to participate in training preparations constantly. Only in this year he already played in great tournaments in Moscow, Sofia, Bilbao, Foros. And this is not enough list. And besides this Vassiliy Ivanchuk is very democratic to the true chess fancies. After finishing serious game of chess he can play with the dilettante. Ivanchuk played in Almaty in 1983, when he was 14 years old. Now we are waiting for the meeting with the grand-master, who are at the peak of his chess powers.

 

IV World Blitz Chess Championship was finished by unexpected victory of grand master from Cuba Leinier Dominguez Perez, who played with 15 great blitz-players in the world. Chess-player from Cuba won 8 games and didn’t lose no one, so he took 11,5 scores.
World Blitz Champion 2007 Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukrain) took 2nd place with 11 scores. Five times champion of Russia Peter Svidler became bronze medalist with 10 scores.
08.11.08 display of multi-board chess-play of honorable guest of the Championship, 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov with 15 chess fancies from Kazakhstan was held.  Prize-winner of VIII international Seimar Chess Tournament among children and youth Yaroslav Ryabov draw with legendary chess-player.
The opening ceremony of the IV WBCC was conducted on November, 7 at 7 PM. FIDE president Kirsan Ilumzhinov, even office’s chief, mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Esimov and Kazakhstan Chess federation president Margulan Seisembaev made welcoming speeches on the ceremony.
